A. R. Gurney’s Sylvia, a romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog, opened the GTG 2006 season at the Belhurst. Sylvia was played with panache by Laura Feligno. Barney Simeon Goldstein, a native Genevan who recently moved back to his hometown, was Greg. Kate was played by Anne Brown, the owner and operator of the Waterstreet Cafe. Charles King, one of the area’s favorite actors, appeared as the other three characters. This talented cast was under the direction of Pam Rapoza. According to Joan Fuess, TANYS Adjudicator, "Geneva Theatre Guild is never out of their element whether they are performing in a hall or a castle. They always bring quality theater to the stage, both in their choices of plays and their acting and directing. The theme of our pet dogs was carried throughout the evening in the raffle, in the magazine Petpalooza and in the central character of the play, Sylvia, played by Laura Feligno. Laura incorporated every winning trait of the dog, every mannerisms, every mood, every jealousy. There was a strong bond between her and her owner, Greg played by B. Simeon Goldstein. The show was masterfully directed by veteran, Pam Rapoza."
