New plays unveiled at the 8th Annual Playwrights/Playreadings
April 7, 8, and 9, 2006, Geneva Public Library
Are you a playwright? Submit your work for next year's Playwrights/Playreadings
Geneva Theatre Guild presented three original, unpublished one-act plays as the most recent installment of the annual Playwrights Playreadings series.
The selected plays for 2006 were:
-
Interrupted Memories by M. John Bohane of Nokomis, FL
A middle aged man introduces his off-times befuddled parents to the
audience through a series of humorous and evocative vignettes
interlinked with major national events of the last forty years ending
with a poignant connection to the 9/11 tragedy.
-
Pitching the Good Game by Jay Hanagan of Geneva, NY
Samuel and Ruth have been married for forty years, and have made it to a
baseball game on this date, for every year of their lives together. But
they are at an early crossroads where memories fail and love and
tolerance are pushed to their limits.
-
Bob's Date by John Shanahan of Quincy, MA
Bob-who's not actually in this play-is going on his first date in two
years. His internal attributes, including Nerves, Logic, Libido, Bull,
and Confidence, are trying to get him prepared for the night. When Bob's
date answers the door, there's a love-at-first-sight moment, which
awakens long-sleeping Emotion. Her arrival throws the men into chaos.
But when she looks out and sees Bob's date, she brings up Memory--the
memory of the woman who broke Bob's heart.
