Written by Paul Zindel, who died in 2003, this touching drama is the story of a dysfunctional family: Beatrice, the strident, bitter mother, who struggles with life and the challenge of raising two daughters; Tillie, who finds salvation in science projects at school; and precocious, epileptic Ruth.

Michelle Caward, Stanley, headed the cast as the mother. Kate Duprey, Phelps, was the quiet, studious Tillie and Kiley Conklin, Geneva, was the deeply troubled Ruth. Veteran actress Eleanor Stearns, Geneva, was Nanny, the elderly boarder caught in the family's struggles.
