For the fifth time, the Geneva Theatre Guild will perform at the Theatre Association of New York State Theatre Festival. The Guild will present the award-winning Forever Plaid, Saturday, November 19, at 1 p.m., at Cayuga Community College, Auburn.

Forever Plaid was first presented at Belhurst Castle in March, as a dinner theatre production. The popular 50s music show received three TANYS merit awards from Adjudicator Paul Nelson: Excellence in Directing and Choreography for Pam Rapoza (Geneva), and Excellence in Acting and Vocal Performance awards for Geneva residents Charles King and R. J. Rapoza.

Because the performances were done prior to the Festival selection period, the Guild presented the show as a fund raiser for the Phelps Community Center on September 16 and 17. Forever Plaid was readjudicated by TANYS Roving Adjudicator Joan Luther, who noted, “Pam (Rapoza) captured the essence of the fifties with her simple and clean choreography executed by the Plaids. It was a delight to watch Frankie, Smudge, Sparky and Jinx move to the music we all know and love. All the actors and musicians worked together to create a successful production on several levels.”

Luther gave the production two merit awards: Excellence in Direction and Choreography to Pam Rapoza and Excellence in Ensemble Work to R.J. Rapoza, Charles King, Todd Horton, Randy Hample, Annie Bachman and Oscar Yuan. She also recommended the musical for a Festival invitation.

All performance sessions at the three day State Theatre Festival are open to the public and tickets are available at the door. Seven plays will be presented, starting with the mystery Veronica’s Room, at the first Performance Session, Friday, November 18, at 7:30 PM.
