Past Submission Guidelines for Playwrights Playreadings 2007: Performances consist of stage readings of original, unpublished one-act plays with a maximum playing time of forty-five (45) minutes. Submission deadline for the 2007 production was December 15, 2006 (postmarked). Send to:
Geneva Theatre Guild, Playwrights Playreadings, P.O. Box 424, Geneva, NY 14456
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Limit - two submissions per playwright.
- Submissions must be typed, one side of the page only, easy to read, free of stray markings, with at least a one inch border.
- Submissions must have two title pages:
a.) One with the title of the play only, and
b.) One with the title of the play, playwright's name, address, phone number, email address and approximate running time.
- Include a brief synopsis of the plot, setting, and list of characters before the first page of dialogue.
- All pages must be numbered, starting with the first page of dialogue as Page 1.
- Please send FOUR copies of the script(s) with your submission.
- Submissions should be unbound and in a folder.
- If you wish your submissions returned, enclose a SASE, otherwise, submissions are recycled.
All submissions, which meet the guidelines, are given blind readings by two selection committees. Scripts are rated by established criteria. The plays with the highest scores move on to a final committee, who read the plays aloud as a group. All final plays are discussed and then the decision on which plays will be selected for staged readings is made. At no time, prior to the final selection, does any committee member know the identity of the playwrights.
Please note: we are unable to accept electronic submissions.
